This desktop client is for the iPhone version of PdaNet only. Please make sure iTunes has been installed before installing PdaNet Desktop Client.

PdaNet Desktop for Mac iPhone


Download PdaNet Desktop for Mac (iPhone version).
The current version supports Mac OS X 10.5 or above (Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion). The new version also adds support for 64 bit kernel. It requires PdaNet 1.61 or above on your phone end (please upgrade in Cydia).
During installation PdaNet will add an ethernet interface ("en2" in most cases) to your network list. If the network preferences window pops up, just selected "Apply" with the default DHCP settings. If it doesn't, please bring up network perferences manually.
Also make sure you install PdaNet to the system/root drive, if you are prompted with multiple partitions on the harddrive.
At the end of the installation you will be asked to reboot your Mac. After rebooting you should see the PdaNet icon on the menu bar. Click on it to start the PdaNet connection.
If you ever need to uninstall or before you reinstall PdaNet, please run ~/PdaNetUninstall.sh in your home directory and reboot.

PDANet For iPhone


 has been the best tethering software for Windows Mobile phones and Palm OS phones. It is now ported to iPhone and Android! How to Install - version 5.30
Apple has not accepted PdaNet into the App Store due to understandable reason. You will need to jailbreak your iPhone and install it through Cydia.

To use WiFi mode you do not need anything installed on the computer end. To use USB mode, download the desktop client on Mac or Windows.

You can also download the desktop client using your phone instead - on your phone open the web browser and go to http://pdanet.co/android

When you run the installer, if for some reason it says the file is corrupted, that would be caused by browser timeouts. Try to download using a different browser or from your phone directly.

You should be able to just install and connect. There is no need for any extra setups. If you are upgrading and you have a paid version, it will remain so even after the upgrade.If you ever need to install an older version of PdaNet, you can get it from here.

PdaNet Desktop for Mac


Download PdaNet for Android (last update 5/17/2011) Mac OS destop client. Note: if you are upgrading, please open Terminal (under Applications->Utilities) and run ~/PdaNetUninstall.sh then reboot first.
If you have installed PdaNet before upgrading Mac OS to Lion, you need to uninstall PdaNet and reinstall it.
The current version supports Mac OS X 10.5 or above (Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion), both 32 bit and 64 bit. It does not work on older hardwares like the PowerBook or iMac. Here are the setup instructions:
1. Download and run the installer on Mac. At the end of the installation you will be asked to reboot your Mac. After rebooting you should see the PdaNet icon on the menu bar. (figure 1)
2. During installation PdaNet will add an ethernet interface ("en2" in most cases) to your network list. If the network preferences window pops up, just selected "Apply" with the default DHCP settings. If it doesn't, please bring up network perferences manually to make sure it uses DHCP. (figure 2)
3. On your phone go to Settings->Applications->Development and check "USB Debugging" (figure 3).
4. Now you need to add PdaNet to your phone side. On the Mac click on the PdaNet menu bar icon and select "Install PdaNet to Phone" then wait for it to complete. After this launch PdaNet on the phone and enable USB Tether.
5. Now when you connect your phone to the computer, you should see the menu icon changes state, click on it to connect. When the icon stops blicking and turns blue, your computer should be online.
Network traffics on the Mac will go through PdaNet only if your system does not have other connectivities.
